From Street Stove to Political Spotlight: The Mothers Who Feed Power

Every morning before the city fully wakes up, the smell of fresh food rises from a small roadside food stall. Behind the steaming pots stands a hardworking mother, quietly preparing meals just a few meters away from offices and meeting points frequented by politicians and leaders.

For many, she is simply a food vendor. But to politicians, civil servants, journalists, and passersby, she is something more — a daily reminder that leadership and ordinary life meet at the same table.

These mothers, who sell food near political centers, have become silent witnesses to power. As leaders debate policies and make decisions that shape the nation, they stop by these modest food stalls for tea, lunch, or a quick meal. Conversations about national development often begin over a plate of rice or a cup of porridge served by these women.

“I may not sit in meetings, but I hear everything,” says one mother with a smile, as she stirs a pot over a charcoal stove. From election seasons to government changes, she has seen faces come and go but her work never stops.

Despite rising food prices, long working hours, and harsh weather, these mothers remain strong. Their small businesses not only support their families but also play a quiet role in the political ecosystem. They feed the people who lead, advise, and influence the country.

In a world where attention is often given to speeches and titles, these women remind us that behind every powerful leader is a simple human need food. And behind that food, there is often a mother whose story is rarely told.

Their stalls may be small, but their contribution to society is big. They are not just selling food; they are serving resilience, dignity, and hope  one plate at a time
